Gojo Visit – Host Families required

Gojo Senior High School is our sister school in Japan.  They have been visiting us every March over the last 20 years.  Gojo is sending 12 students (9 female & 3 male students) and 2 staff next March.  The Gojo students are between sixteen and seventeen years of age.  You are cordially invited to consider hosting one or two of these students.

When:  Monday 5th March – Tuesday 13th March 2018 (8:00am departure on Tuesday 13th March)

*Please Note:  Monday 12th March is a Labour Day Holiday.

Families commit themselves to the provision of accommodation, three meals and transport.  The class attendance of the hosting students will not be affected.  Host families will be invited to a meeting at the school in early March, where they will be given lots of information to assist them in making the most of the hosting experience.  If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about another culture and share your family’s experiences, please email Ms Watanabe ASAP.

Japan Trip 2018

We would like to visit Japan during the September-October holidays this year if there are enough interests.  A proposed itinerary will be available upon request but we usually visit Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima during the first week and we spend the second week at Gojo Senior High School.  The trip is open to any students in Senior School and price of the last trip was $3700.  The information evening will be held at the start of Term 2.

Kanji Camp

The VCE Japanese Kanji Camp will be held on Friday 28th (4:00pm – 7:00pm) and Saturday 29th (10:00am – 1:00pm) & Sunday 30th (10:00am – 1:00pm) April.  The purpose of this camp is to master all 250 VCE prescribed Kanji (Chinese characters) over the three days!  We are inviting Mr Hiroshi Watanabe who has been successfully running a VCE Kanji Course in Australia and overseas over the past years.  This is the only intensive VCE Kanji course run in Victoria.  He uses easy and fun learning methods to assist students in memorising large numbers of characters.  The cost of this course is $130.00, which includes a workbook.  The camp is suitable for Year 10 and VCE Japanese students but younger students are also welcome to participate.

Have a wonderful year!
