The team has been working hard on their skills at training weekly under the guidance of Braves SEABL players Jeremy Kendle and Indiana Faithful, as well as learning a new defence and two new plays. It has been a pleasure so far to watch the team execute well in offence and defence so far.

This season we welcomed Ronell Masiboy and Maddison Nash to the team.

  • Ronell commenced her studies at Girton this year and, due to her experience of playing VJBL for the U14 A Bendigo Braves girls this season, she has been a fantastic addition to the team.
  • Maddison Nash is not a Girton student, however she has joined the team for this season to build on her leadership skills. Currently Maddy plays VJBL for the U16 A Bendigo Braves team and has played for Country Victoria for a number of years – a wealth of knowledge that she is passing to the younger players of the team.

The team are playing well together, with the likes of Caitlin and Maddison providing the team with on-court leadership. All players have contributed to the great results of the team and are proving to be very coachable players – an important quality in young athletes.

As this season is the first time Girton has put in a U16 Division 1 team, the Girton Topaz are hoping to continue building their knowledge and skills and feature in the finals.

Go Girton!
