Loddon Mallee Regional Finals: Table Tennis

in Senior School News

Loddon Mallee Regional Table Tennis playoffs for a place in the Senior Boys and Girls State Finals were held in Bendigo on the 28th of May.

The girl’s team of Abbey Saxon (11 Frew), Kate Douglas (11 Frew), Polly Barnett (12 Jenkin) and Chaelim Ko (11 Aherne), were convincing winners over McKillop College Swan Hill four Rubbers to two.

Abbey played very well against McKillop’s Number One player, adjusting to the consistent chopping style and gradually improved as the match progressed but not quite enough to gain the win. Kate and Polly won their singles convincingly and Chaelim had a strong win over the McKillop number four to give as a three to one edge after the singles. Abbey and Chaelim played the first doubles against the McKillop number one and two and just lost three games to two, while Kate and Polly were too strong for McKillop’s second doubles pair. Congratulations on an excellent all round performance.

The boys team of Xavier Green (11 Aherne) and Isaac Green (11 Aherne) with Harrishman Shobanan (12 Riley) and Ritish Cherukuthota (11 Frew) received a walkover and automatically progress to the State final. Congratulations to the boy’s team on reaching the State final.

Two teams out of two through to the State finals with six more Table Tennis Teams looking to join them.

Again, thanks go to our coach Mr Paul Green for his time, effort and expertise in coaching all the players.

The Senior Boys and Girls will play the State finals at MSAC on the 15th of August.
