This year marks the 10th RUOK Day and Girton once again marked the occasion with the annual Staff versus Year 12 Students Soccer Match and BBQ. As the sun shone down on the playing field its was a hotly contested game with the pressure on for the Staff Team to bring home a win but the day belonged to the Year 12 Students, winning 4 to 2 in a sometimes controversial match (there was a suggestion that it was numbers on the field and not skill that overcame the Staff Team!). Congratulations to the victors and well done to all players on the day. A huge thank you to our MC Mr Graeme Crickmore whose entertaining banter during the match only added to the fun. Thank you also to the referee team on the day – never an easy job but the game could not be played without them. Girton Community Action Group raised over $370 to be donated to the “Buy-A-Bale” campaign in aid of our drought-stricken farmers. Thank you to everyone who came along and cheered on the players, enjoyed the music and bought a snag or two to support a great cause. Looking forward to RUOK Day in 2019.
