Girton recently hosted the annual Science and Engineering Challenge, a nationwide STEM program presented by the University of Newcastle in partnership with communities, Rotary clubs, Universities and sponsors.
The challenge is designed to inspire students in Year 9 and Year 10 to consider a future career in science and engineering. Several schools from the area took part in the challenge.
The students worked in teams of four on separate tasks ranging from building catapults and bridges to designing electronic circuits.
Well done to the two Girton teams who topped the points in their individual tasks and to all participants who contributed to Girton achieving second place in the competition.
