On Monday the 6th of August the Year 12 Legal Studies students, along with Ms Libby Paul, were invited to attend a talk by Court of Appeal Justices Pamela Tate and Kim Hargrave at Bendigo Senior Secondary College. It was the first time in seven years that the Court of Appeal was sitting in Bendigo. As they listened to the personal accounts of the paths each Justice took into the realm of law, the students were given a glimpse into the practical, personal side of the legal system rarely seen in class. Students were given advice on working in the legal system and gained valuable insight into the impacts – both negative and positive – that being a professional in this sphere can have. The experience was invaluable in contextualising the legal education of the students thus far.
