The Senior School Ensembles Concert was a great success and well attended by many parents, students and staff. The Headmaster commented that, “It is wonderful that students will have such positive memories of ensemble performances like those at the Ensembles Concert. Students make friends, share the joy of making music together and learn from one another. Performing in an ensembles group teaches students to learn to listen and to communicate non-verbally with each other to create music as a team, and this is where the reward and the magic happens.”
The three-pronged approach to music at Girton that involves individual tuition, ensemble participation and classroom education make for a comprehensive musical experience for our students, and ensemble performances, like those at our annual Ensembles Concerts, allow students to share the joy of learning with their friends, family, teachers and their community.
The Senior School had almost 300 students perform at this year’s Ulumbarra Theatre Ensembles Concert. The audience was treated to twelve high-quality performances from ensembles ranging from the Girton Big Band, Chamber Choir, Girton Singers, Guitar Ensembles, Bands and Orchestras.
Thank you to the twenty music staff in attendance for their planning, coaching and efforts in ensuring the students could present themselves so skillfully and with such confidence.
