As part of a training camp, the Richmond Football Club were in Bendigo on Tuesday 13th February and visite the Girton Grammar Junior School.

The players talked to students about what it takes to get to the top of their game, persistence and passion being the major themes.

The players spoke about the importance of sport in the lives of young people and how to balance enjoyment of a sport with healthy competition.

Students then had the opportunity to meet the players and get their autograph.

Girton Grammar Junior School conducts football training sessions on Londonderry Oval on Friday afternoons during Terms 2 and 3.  These are an opportunity for children to enjoy some end of week physical activity with some of their teachers in a relaxed, happy atmosphere.

More than fifty students enjoy this co-curricular activity, which helps to develop physical and social skills. The Bendigo Pioneers, together with students from the Girton Grammar Senior School, are involved in mentoring and training the students. Girton Grammar Junior School forms boys and girls teams to compete in an annual tournament against Ballarat Grammar and in the annual Loddon Campaspe Football Carnival.
